How is playground surfacing specified for a children's play area?

We specify playground surfacing against the fall height of the equipment it sits under, and confirm the rating for your installation before work begins. Ask any installer what fall height the system is rated to and what build-up achieves it.

How does playground grass hold up in Indiana's weather?

High-quality playground turf is built to withstand Indiana's full range of seasonal conditions, from summer heat to winter freeze-thaw cycles. UV-stabilized fibers resist fading, and proper drainage systems prevent water pooling, keeping the surface usable year-round.

How much maintenance does synthetic playground grass require?

Synthetic playground grass requires significantly less maintenance than natural grass or loose-fill materials. Routine care typically involves periodic brushing to keep fibers upright, rinsing to remove debris, and occasional inspection of seams and edges.

What size playground areas can be covered with artificial turf?

Artificial playground turf can be installed across a wide range of sizes, from small backyard play areas to large community playgrounds like the 1,470 square foot Mt. Vernon installation. Custom cutting and seaming allow the turf to fit virtually any shape or layout.

How is this playground surfacing specified?

Playground surfacing is installed as a system: the turf, the layer beneath it, and the depth of that build-up are specified together for the site. We confirm the specification with you before installation.

Mt. Vernon Playground Turf Installation Fortville IN

Project Overview

The Mt. Vernon playground in Fortville needed a 1,470 square foot surface refresh. Community playgrounds like this get consistent traffic from local families, and the previous ground cover had worn to the point of needing replacement rather than repair.

Our Approach

Site assessment, removal of the existing materials, and grading for drainage all happened before the turf came off the truck. We installed the playground grass system with attention to seam integrity and edge finishing, and picked a product engineered for the softness, durability, and fall-attenuation numbers a community play area needs. Our artificial grass for playgrounds work is one segment of our artificial grass services, which cover everything from residential lawns to commercial civic installs.

Key Highlights

The 1,470 square feet at Mt. Vernon delivers consistent green surface that requires none of the seasonal work natural grass demands. UV-stabilized fibers hold their color under Indiana summer sun, and the system is installed to the specification set for the play equipment. The finished space fits Fortville families for years without the wear-mud-reseed cycle a natural playground would go through.
