The Challenge

A Columbus family reached out to ForeverLawn® Indy with a backyard that had to do two demanding jobs at once. The fenced rear yard wrapped around an inground pool and a raised concrete patio, and the household’s active dogs were rapidly reducing the surrounding lawn to muddy paw tracks and thinning turf. The constant travel path between the patio seating area and the pool deck never gave natural grass a chance to recover, and rinse-off after swims added standing moisture the compacted soil could not shed. Behind a two-story home with cream vinyl privacy fencing, the family needed a pet-friendly surface that could hold up to daily play, keep the pool surround clean, and pull the entire outdoor room together visually. Ongoing mowing, watering, and reseeding of the same worn zones had already proven unsustainable for the way this household actually used its yard.

Our Solution

The ForeverLawn Indy crew installed 732 square feet of Pet turf, a synthetic turf engineered specifically for pet environments. The team built a compacted, free-draining base that channeled water away from both the pool coping and the raised patio, then seamed the turf tight to the concrete edges so paws and pool toys would not catch a lifted lip. Pet turf carries an antimicrobial backing and a flow-through drainage layer that helps clear rinse water and rain quickly, both of which matter in a yard that sees regular pool splash-out alongside daily dog use. The specialized fibers are built to stand up to repeated running, digging, and rolling from energetic dogs. Every existing site element was preserved during the build, including the white vinyl perimeter fencing, the raised patio with its rocking chairs, and the surrounding pool hardscape, so the finished yard reads as a single cohesive space rather than a patched-in retrofit.

The Results
