The Challenge

Waterfront living at Geist Reservoir puts unusual demands on a lawn. This estate sits on a peninsula, and the homeowners were trying to keep natural grass presentable along a stone seawall, next to a boat dock, around the pool deck, and beneath a mature tree canopy that limited sunlight and competed for root space. Indiana’s freeze-thaw cycles opened bare patches each spring, splash-out from the pool kept the perimeter soggy, and the shoreline showed the slow erosion pressure that comes from wave action and foot traffic between the water slide landing, the dock, and the patio. The family wanted their summer weekends back on the water instead of behind a mower, and they wanted a finished surface that matched the estate’s stonework rather than a patchy lawn still recovering from the last storm.

Our Solution

ForeverLawn® Indy installed ForeverLawn landscape turf across the estate’s waterfront lawn, wrapping around the stone patio, the water slide landing, the pool surround, and the circular mulch beds anchoring the mature trees, then carrying the surface all the way to the boat dock and the seawall transition. The crew built a compacted aggregate base with layered drainage so rainfall, pool splash-out, and shoreline spray move down through the profile instead of pooling at the water’s edge. Seams were tucked along the natural curves of the peninsula so the finished lawn reads as one continuous surface from the estate down to the reservoir. The Results

The finished project gives the family an evergreen lawn that holds its color from the pool deck out to the seawall and across the full length of the peninsula. Aerial views show a clean, uniform surface that frames the boat dock, patio, and pool as a single outdoor room rather than a set of disconnected zones. Watering, mowing, seeding, and seasonal patchwork have dropped off the maintenance list, replaced by occasional brushing and debris removal after storms and heavy dock use. Along the water’s edge, the stabilized base helps hold the soil beneath the turf in place, which reduces the ongoing wear on the seawall transition from waves and foot traffic.
